Customers and sites: import them
The CSV wizard takes the customer list from your old system or spreadsheet, maps your columns for you and shows a preview before anything commits. This is the one import that matters most, and it takes minutes, not a weekend.
Inventory and compliance: import those too
Stock lists and your compliance register (certifications, licences, PPE inspections) come across as CSV as well, so the registers start full instead of empty.
Jobs: start fresh, on purpose
Run new work through Onyx One while the old system finishes what it started. A half-migrated job history helps nobody; a clean loop from the first new job does. Most shops are quoting and invoicing inside a week.
The crew: invite, not import
People join by invitation with a role each: owner, admin, office, dispatcher, tech or contractor. That is deliberate, because the role decides what each person can see, and that decision deserves ten seconds of thought per person.
Old invoices and the books: leave them in Xero
Xero stays the source of truth for your accounting history; do not re-key finished years into a job system. Onyx One sends new invoices to Xero as Xero-shaped exports on every plan, and keeps its own records for the life of your account.
Safety forms: rebuild them better
Bring your pre-start, permit to work and gear checks across as form templates in week two, once the loop is running. Paper forms usually improve in the translation, because sign-off can now gate the clock-in.
